A fifth Partner for Teynier Pic : Shaparak Saleh

Shaparak Saleh joins the French international arbitration boutique.

After a dozen years with the international arbitration team of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Shaparak Saleh joins Teynier Pic as a partner on June 4, 2018.

Admitted in Paris in 2006, Shaparak Saleh started her career at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.  In January 2016, she was promoted to Counsel within their international arbitration practice, becoming the only woman to achieve this level of responsibility within her team in Paris.

Shaparak is an expert in commercial litigation and international commercial arbitration and has practised in these areas for more than twelve years.  She has advised numerous European and American oil companies in arbitration proceedings against a North African State-owned oil and gas company and has represented major multinational companies in the aeronautics, space, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and construction industries both before arbitral tribunals and state courts.  Shaparak has broad experience in post-arbitration litigation before French courts, having represented clients in some twenty set-aside proceedings.  She has also been involved in enforcement proceedings of numerous awards against sovereign States, most notably in the Yukos case.  For the last ten years, Shaparak Saleh has been teaching international arbitration at Sciences Po Paris.  She also teaches at Paris-II Panthéon-Assas and the Paris Bar school.

Since 2017, Shaparak has appeared on the Who’s Who Legal list of Future Leaders in international arbitration.  The Global Arbitration Review quotes a BP International Legal Manager who describes Shaparak as “intelligent and commercially astute.”  Mr. Lahoussine Chaouni, a senior director of the National Office of Electricity and Potable Water of Morocco, says: “I have worked with prestigious firms and many attorneys in Morocco and abroad, but nowhere else have I encountered the dedication and reliability shown by Shaparak Saleh throughout the proceedings.

“For many years, Teynier Pic has reinforced its international presence and enriched itself with the talents of the new generation.  After our strategic alliance with Griffin Litigation in 2016, and the recruitment of Raphael Kaminsky as a partner in 2017, the arrival of Shaparak, a rising star in international arbitration, is a further step in the development, growth and renewal of our firm,” emphasises Eric Teynier, Managing Partner and co-founder of Teynier Pic.

Shaparak Saleh says: “I am delighted to join Teynier Pic, the very first French boutique firm dedicated to dispute resolution.  I am confident that this is a perfect fit, given our common background in French and international disputes.  I look forward to working alongside colleagues who cultivate excellence and rigour in a collegial work environment.
