Diane Caron-Laviolette’s practice focuses on international arbitration and commercial litigation. She regularly acts in commercial arbitration proceedings under the auspices of various arbitration rules (ICC, CCJA, and UNCITRAL). Diane also acts in judicial proceedings before the French Courts, as well as in institutional and ad hoc mediations.

Diane has experience in the construction, aerospace, telecoms, transport, and pharmaceutical sectors.

She also works on pro bono matters with the Alliance des Avocats pour les Droits de l’Homme (AADH).

  • Representing a French aerospace company in an ICC arbitration concerning a breach of a contract for the design and production of a constellation of low earth orbit telecommunications satellites.
  • Representing a French company specialising in credit insurance in an ad hoc arbitration initiated against a Central African State concerning the performance of a contract for the construction and installation of a maritime surveillance system.
  • Representing a French pharmaceutical company in a dispute with a Canadian distributor relating to the termination of a contract for the distribution of drugs for orphan diseases.
  • Representing Iranian nationals in an ICC arbitration against a global food company in a dispute concerning the exercise of a put option pursuant to a shareholders’ agreement.
  • Representing a Polish company in an ICC arbitration against a French aircraft manufacturer concerning the non-performance of a services agreement.
  • Representing a Malaysian company in an ICC arbitration in a dispute relating to the construction and operation of a seawater desalination plant in North Africa, and in set-aside proceedings before the Court of Appeal of Paris.
  • Representing nationals of various countries in litigation proceedings in France and Switzerland regarding a dispute relating to the non-performance of a company’s plan to operate a shopping centre in France.
  • Representing a Lebanese national in a CCJA arbitration relating to a dispute with an Ivorian transport company concerning the execution of a shareholders’ agreement and a protocol providing for the transfer of shares.
  • Representing an international organisation in ad hoc negotiations and mediation proceedings in relation to an asbestos pollution incident.
